Hiking and Biking Tours
Take a self guided hiking or biking tour with to visit arch rock, skull cave, sugarloaf, british landing, devil's kitchen and the beach of a bazillion beautiful skipping stones while traversing through Mackinac Island's boreal forest trails. Free maps are available at the Tourism Bureau on Island (across from Arnold Line Ferry).

Hiking
Always a free sport here on Mackinac Island. We have over 2250 acres in Mackinac Island State Park with over 70 miles of natural and paved trails for your walking, hiking and running pleasure.

Bicycle Rentals
Don't worry, you don't have to schlep your bike to the Island. Bike rentals start at $5 per hour. Single speed, tandems, mountain bikes, kids bikes, burly carts and more are all waiting for you. Half day, whole day and sunset rentals also available. Its easy to rent bicycles from the many bike rental shops on the Island.more

Electric Scooters

Persons with mobility issues are welcome to bring electric scooters to the island. Ferries of choice for those with a scooter or wheelchair are Arnold Line or Star Line Ferry companies. more

Zoo de Mack
Each May, the Annual Zoo-De-Mackinac Bike Race on is a weekend of fun and one of the most scenic bicycle rides in the country. This event attracts around 2,000 participants every year. Young professionals who love to participate in outdoor activities in a relaxed festive atmosphere are encouraged to join in for this great race from Boyne Highlands to Mackinac Island.more

Run Mackinac
Gault Race Management offers an 8K, 10K and a half marathon each summer for the seasoned pro or the amateur. more

Cross Country Skiing
Cross Country skiing on Mackinac has been voted among the best. The Mackinac Island Ski Club grooms the trails throughout the winter and seeing the sites while gliding along the forest brings calm to all who venture out on a winter's day. Ski rentals are available at the Village Inn throughout the winter.

Snow Shoeing
Snow shoes are a perfect way to hike through the Island's wintry landscape. With 70 miles of trails to traverse, rabbits, fox, coyote and pileated woodpeckers to view and a gorgeous blue ice shoreline, getting out in the state park is a good winter workout and incredibly memorable. Rentals are available at the Village Inn throughout the winter.

Presidents Day Weekend
Join us each February as we celebrate with a great winter weekend featuring a cross country ski postcard poker rally, winter hayride, Bloody Mary Pancake Breakfast and the illustrious Village Inn Chili Cook-off. Taste and judge the various pots of chili as Island residents and cooks from around Northern Michigan compete for the title.
