St. Ignace Hosts Birthday Bash for Mackinac Bridge’s 50th Anniversary

St. Ignace, Michigan - The St. Ignace Visitors Bureau and Classic Rock The Bear proudly present a weekend full of celebrations for the 50 th Anniversary of the Mighty Mackinac Bridge on July 27-29th. There are many wonderful events scheduled, something for every member of the family.
There will be live waterfront entertainment on Thursday night, July 26 th, at the St. Ignace Marina. The featured performer is the Pub Runners, a unique folk duo with a blend of Irish and American music. On Friday and Saturday the US Coast Guard will be offering guided tours of their 47 foot motorized lifeboat used for Search & Rescue, Law Enforcement and Homeland Security. This vessel is self-righting and able to work in seas of up to 30 feet.
The parade in downtown St. Ignace will be held on Saturday and feature the famous Budweiser Clydesdales, the beverage industry's most recognizable mascots. There will be several opportunities available for the public to view and visit with the world-famous Clydesdales at their stables at the Little Bear Arena in downtown St. Ignace. The Clydesdales will participate in five different appearances during the weekend’s celebrations, including the “Ceremonial Beer Delivery”.
Saturday evening’s events will open at 4:00 beginning with the Dedication of the Fisherman’s Memorial, a beautiful, newly constructed stone structure honoring the lives and trade of area fishermen. The Fish Feast will be held on Saturday evening and will include a Beer & Wine Tent. All of the events will be held under tents on the Marina pier. The Feast will feature dozens of fish specialties prepared by local area restaurants. This years’ Fish Feast is the inaugural and the town of St. Ignace promises to keep this event as part of their summer schedule.
There will be games for the kids, Great Lakes folk music and Miss Michigan will be attending the celebration! Don’t miss the fireworks cruise at dusk on Saturday night! There will also be live musical entertainment at the Marina on Saturday evening.
Sunday’s events include the Isabelle Hagen 5K Walk in the morning. The walk is in honor of Isabelle Hagen, who served as a registered nurse for the Mackinac Bridge construction crew.
