Rules of the road:
All pets must be on a leash and never leave your dog unattended. There are several places to stay on the island with your dog and many restaurants are pet friendly.

Ride 'em Cowboy
All dogs receive complimentary transportation to Mackinac Island via
all ferry lines or Great Lakes Air. Mackinac Island Carriage Tours is pleased to permit dogs on their horse drawn carriage tour. Lap dogs are complimentary but if you dog needs its own seat, the child's fare applies.

Feast of Epona Celebrations
The Mackinac Island Dog & Pony Club presents the Blessing of the Animals on the last Friday of the Mackinac Island Lilac Festival. The Epona and Barkus Parade is on the last Saturday of the festival and all dogs are welcome to join in the fun.

Mackinac Island Dog & Pony Show
Immediately following the Epona & Barkus parade is the Mackinac Island Dog & Pony Show with Dynamite the Clown and Comedian/emcee Stu Stuart. Demonstrations and information about agility training, search and rescue, K9 training, nutrition and more abound.

Pet friendly restaurants
Please note, all service dogs are welcome at any Island establishment. Many restaurants have patio seating which permit your pet at the table while others offer pet areas nearby with fresh water. Its best to inquire with the host or hostess at each restaurant to ensure they have pet friendly seating available. Pet friendly restaurants include Cannonball Drive In, Dog House at Windermere Point, Bistro on the Greens, Gate House and Grand Stand, both are Grand Hotel Restaurants, Mary's Bistro, Mr. B's, Tea Room at Fort Mackinac and Chilin & Grillin' Waterfront Cafe.

Cats
Meow! If you are interested in bringing your feline friend, please consult the listings at right. Cats are subject to the same leash laws as are dogs.

Mackinac Island Dog & Pony Club
This club seeks to educate and inform tourists about fun things to do on Mackinac Island with your pet. Founded in the winter of 2004, club members are invited to join in the Epona & Barkus Parade during Lilac Festival and offers dog walking services, pet sitting and information about pet friendly accommodations, restaurants and shops. Travel bowls, tote bags and other fun stuff available on their website.
