Nature and music were integral in sparking the imagination of Arthur Dove, an early American modernist painter who always aimed to make connections between complex concepts. Dove’s unique way of seeing had a profound and lasting influence on Georgia O’Keeffe. Interestingly, Dove looked to the art of his friend O’Keeffe for inspiration as well.
