Linda Young Presents: A Selected History of Color in Painting

An hour-long talk which will explore how artists have used color in paintings – from the luscious pigments highly sought by artists of the Renaissance to the color-drenched canvasses of the 1960s Color Field painters. Using iconic paintings throughout the history of Western art as examples, the talk will trace the discovery, use of, and experimentation with pigments by artists through the ages.
