Decorated in red, white, and
Decorated in red, white, and blue in honor of the holiday, Fort Mackinac will create an atmosphere of the 1880s with the “Star Spangled Fourth of July” concert and memorial event. Admission to the event is included with park admission, which is $11 for adults, $6.50 for children ages five to 17, and free for ages four and younger.
At 2 p.m. and again at 7 p.m., a band of interpreters dressed as American soldiers will serenade attendees with patriotic tunes on the fife and bugle at the Fort. Following the concert, park guests are invited to recognize those who served in the military alongside interpreters.
Veterans and active members of the military will gather as Girl Scouts in the Governor’s Honor Guard raise a 20-by-38- foot American flag along with a 38-gun salute. Each gunshot represents a state that was a part of the union during the 1880s.
Fireworks & Fireworks Cruises
The Annual Fourth of July Fireworks start at dusk, which is usually between 9:30pm-10pm. Most bring blankets to stretch out on the shoreline, others bring folding chairs to watch from the school yard and guests of Grand Hotel may watch from the longest porch in the world.
Each Ferry Line offers special fireworks cruises.
