Bring a good pair of walking shoes because there are a number of shops you’ll want to explore. With four small malls, the Island is a shopper’s paradise that encompasses everything from ordinary to exotic.
You will find custom and Tiffany Jewelry, contemporary clothing at Cagney & Colony, Aveda at Astor Salon, inspired gifts, wines, upscale gardening supplies and fresh flowers at Margaret’s Garden all within the Grand Hotel. The Grand even has an outlet shop in the Gate House Courtyard Shops on the way to the hotel filled with all sorts of great finds. At Mission Point Resort, it is great fun to stock up on spa goods, children’s gifts, upscale resort wear and even gourmet food & wine for that special lpicnic basket to while away on a lazy afternoon overlooking the straits of Mackinac.
Downtown, your palate will be satiated with great clothing stores, toy stores, jewelry shops, fine home gifts, souvenir shops and art galleries filled the works of local artists and artisans.
Art Galleries
Mackinac is home to many lovely galleries featuring the works of Island artists and regional artists. Be sure to take time for an art break. Art exhibitions occur each summer at the Richard and Jane Manoogian Mackinac Island Art Museum, Mackinac Island Public Library and Grand Hotel. The Mackinac Arts Council also holds workshops throughout the season.
