The Intercontinental Biennial of Indigenous Art
August 18, 2019 - September 3, 2019
In partnership with the Michilimackinac Historical Society, The Rendezvous at the Straits Powwow, the Visitors Bureau of St. Ignace, and the Indigenous School of the Arts (Ecuador), the Center for the Arts will present a collection of works by indigenous artists from across the globe. In conjunction with the exhibit, classes at the Mackinac Island Art Museum and a film series in the Mission Point Theater will also feature the creative works of indigenous artists.
Located in the Mission Point Theater lobby, the Center for the Arts gallery overlooks Lake Huron in the original main entrance to the theater. Traveling and local exhibits rotate throughout the season. Staff and volunteers are usually present to answer questions about the artwork and provide more information about arts and culture on Mackinac Island.
The gallery is open 9-5 Monday-Saturday, and 12-5 Sunday during the Summer and early Fall months. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged.
