WHAT IS THE MACKINAC ISLAND LILAC FESTIVAL?
The Mackinac Island Lilac Festival is the largest and most historic festival on Mackinac Island. It’s 10 days celebrating the lilacs and their uniqueness and history to Mackinac Island. Join us for the Lilac Queen coronation, official poster reveal, 10K Run/Walk, lilac walking tours, lilac planting seminars, bounce houses, Michigan Cornhole tournament, live music, the Grand Parade, and more!

WILL THERE BE A PARADE THIS YEAR?
Yes! We are excited to announce that we are bringing the Grand Parade back this year. Groups are invited to fill out the parade application form and return to firstname.lastname@example.org. Additional parade questions are answered below.
HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR WALKING TOURS?
Registration is not required for walking tours or planting sessions with lilac expert, Jeff Young. Meet at the designated areas, he will have a microphone and speaker as he leads the group through the tour.
LILAC FESTIVAL PARADE FAQ
WHEN IS THE PARADE?
Sunday, June 12th. Lineup begins at 3:00 pm, parade starts at 4:00 pm.
HOW DO I REGISTER FOR THE PARADE?
Fill out the parade application and send to email@example.com.
WHAT IS THE COST TO BE IN THE PARADE?
None! It is free to participate in the parade, but you must complete the application. If you arrange a dray or a carriage, there may be a fee to use these services.
WHAT IS THE PARADE ROUTE?
The parade begins at Mission Point Resort follows M-185 to Main Street and ends at Windermere Point.
HOW DO I PICK UP MY TICKETS IF I’M A PARADE PARTICIPANT?
Complimentary round-trip ferry tickets are provided for all parade participants. Tickets can be picked up from the ticket booth at the respective ticket office on the mainland. Tickets will be arranged after your application is received and sent to firstname.lastname@example.org
LILAC FESTIVAL POSTER CONTEST FAQ
HOW DO I ENTER THE POSTER CONTEST?
If you are 18 or older, create an original piece of art, 2022 Lilac Festival Poster Submission Form, include a biography, send to email@example.com and you’re in!
HOW IS THE WINNING POSTER JURIED?
Judging will be based on a combination of elements including this year’s theme (Flower Power: Peace, Love, Lilacs), lilacs, Mackinac Island, and sellability.
WHEN IS THE DEADLINE?
April 22: Submission Deadline
May 2: Invitation and details for the poster unveiling event
June 3: Poster unveiling event
IS THERE A PRIZE FOR WINNING?
Yes! First place will be awarded a 1-night stay to $400 on Mackinac Island. Second and third place winners will receive a prize. All poster participants will receive 2 complimentary round-trip ferry tickets to the poster reveal event.
WHAT HAPPENS TO THE WINNING POSTER?
The first-place winner is the official 2022 Lilac Festival poster and will be available for purchase at Mackinac Island businesses following the unveiling.
WHAT DO I NEED TO SUBMIT WITH MY APPLICATION?
- High Resolution files must be submitted.
- JPEG or TIFF files must be in CMYK format, 300dpi or larger.
- Submissions must be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org
- Submissions need to be in a vertical format and the size of the poster when printed is 16″ x 20″.
- Provide two photos. One without a signature and one with a signature.
- Send the artwork, submission form, and artist bio to email@example.com
WHEN IS THE POSTER REVEAL EVENT?
Friday, June 3rd at 5:00 pm in Marquette Park. The poster reveal is in conjunction with the Lilac Queen coronation.
