Mackinac Island Transportation
All season long, Mackinac Island is serviced from both Mackinaw City and St. Ignace by three ferry companies: Arnold Mackinac Island Ferry, Shepler’s Ferry and Star Line Ferry. It’s anywhere from a 16 to 30-minute trip. Luggage service and parking is available at the ferry docks. Check with each company for schedules and pricing. If you arrive by your own vessel, we recommend you make slip reservations with the Mackinac Island State Harbor ahead of time.

Mackinac Island State Dock offers 76 slips and 13 seasonal slips for powerboats and sailboats.
Amenities include: restrooms, showers, electricity, water, pump-out, grills, ice, dog run, refuse receptacles, recycle bins, and immigration station.

Interstate I-75 brings you to the ferry docks of both Mackinaw City (Lower Peninsula) and St. Ignace (Upper Peninsula). The exits are easy to find as they are clearly marked for several miles. If you travel over the famous Mackinac Bridge – the third longest suspension bridge in the world – a nominal toll will be assessed.
Pellston Airport (PLN) is serviced by Sky West Airlines and is approximately 15 miles from the Island. Mackinaw Shuttle Services and Wolverine Stages are located in the main terminal of the airport and can take you to the ferries headed for the Island. On the Island, private aircraft can land on the Mackinac Island Airport’s 3,500-foot runway.
Mackinac Island Airport (MCD):
Mackinac Island Airport’s 3,500-foot lighted, paved runway is capable of accommodating private and charter aircraft. The airport is one mile from Grand Hotel. Horse-drawn taxi service is available from the airport by calling (906) 847-3323.
