Island House Hotel
History, Convenience, and Comfort
Built in 1852, Island House Hotel was one of Mackinac Island's first summer hotels. Today, Mackinac Island's oldest operating hotel is a member of the Historic Hotels of America and a designated State of Michigan landmark. Since purchasing the resort in 1969, the Callewaert family has continued to add contemporary conveniences while preserving the allure of it's historic ambiance.
Island House Hotel offers gorgeous waterfront views, ideal location to downtown, and modern amenities with cozy old-world charm. Far enough from the downtown hustle to enjoy the sounds of horseshoes on the pavement and gentle breezes off the water yet just a short walk to Mackinac Island’s most popular shopping, dining, attractions, activities, and night life.
Treat your palette to extraordinary culinary craftsmanship at one of our restaurants. 1852 Grill Room offers a casually, sophisticated setting with a pianist, excellent wine selections and exquisite cuisine. Ice House BBQ & Bar is a local favorite where you can lunch on the patio enjoying the carefully curated garden or sip a cocktail on the tented poolside deck.
Enjoy a pleasant rest in one of 94 air-conditioned guest rooms with private bathroom. While you won’t need it, because you’ll be relaxing on the porch or exploring the island, your room has complimentary WIFI, USB charging ports and cable television.
Take a dip in the heated indoor pool, soak in the indoor hot tub or head to the bike rental for island adventures. Relish an unparalleled view while rocking on the veranda as horses trot by on the street and freighters glide through the Straits of Mackinac. Whether it's lunch in the garden, dinner in the elegant dining room, or evenings stargazing on the lawn, Island House Hotel offers the complete Mackinac Island experience.
Complimentary luggage transfer to/from the hotel and the Mackinac Island ferry docks is provided.
To appeal to visitors of all tastes, Island House Hotel offers an impressive selection of room styles and a variety of vacation packages to enliven your Mackinac Island experience.
