Mackinac Island is Open - Ferries are Running!

You may have seen some recent news coverage suggesting otherwise, but we want to be clear: Mackinac Island is fully open and welcoming visitors for the 2026 season.

Those headlines do not reflect current conditions on the island. Both ferry companies, Arnold Transit and Shelper's Ferry, are running robust schedules between Mackinaw City, St. Ignace and the island.
