Back-to-back-to-back honors as the USA’s Best Summer Travel Destination. That’s a big one, yet far from the only honor bestowed upon Mackinac Island in 2025.
Travelers also voted Mackinac Island the USA’s Best Place To Visit For Fall, one of the USA’s Best Historic Small Towns and one of the Best Small Towns in the US. And even that’s not all.

Mackinac Island is the No. 1 Best Place To Bike
People for Bikes gave Mackinac Island a perfect 100 score in its annual ratings. That ranks Mackinac Island No. 1 in Michigan, No. 1 in the United States and even No. 1 in the world ahead of bike-friendly locales in France, The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Italy!
Mackinac Island is the No. 3 Best Flower Festival in the US
The iconic Mackinac Island Lilac Festival ranked in the top 3 U.S. flower festivals thanks to an eight-decade tradition of festivities such as a horse-drawn Grand Parade and coronation of the Lilac Queen as well as newer events including a 10k run/walk and a cornhole tournament.
Mackinac Island is the No. 6 Best Historical Small Town
In addition to being recognized by USA Today readers for its historic attractions such as Fort Mackinac and the Biddle House featuring the Mackinac Island Native American Museum, Mackinac Island also got love in the 2025 Newsweek Readers’ Choice Awards. Mackinac Island was voted the No. 6 Best Historical Small Town due in part to beautifully preserved Victorian cottages, historic forts and landmarks such as the Benjamin Blacksmith Shop.
Mackinac Island is a Top Island
Once named the No. 1 Best Island in the Continental US, Mackinac Island landed at No. 3 in the 2025 Travel + Leisure rankings. Mackinac Island also made the Top 12 Islands in the US in the 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards by Conde Nast Traveler.
Michigan Honors for Mackinac Island
Michigan Blue’s 2025 Best of Blue Awards honored Mackinac Island as the Best Vacation Town in the Upper Peninsula and ranked the Lilac Festival as the best festival in the Upper Peninsula. The magazine also named Mackinac Island’s Pink Pony the Best Happy Hour/Outdoor Dining and the Bayview Mackinac Race the Best Boating Race/Regatta.
Meanwhile, iHeart Radio called Mackinac Island’s Grand Hotel the Best Last-Minute Getaway in Michigan. Known for the world’s longest porch, Grand Hotel also ranked among the USA’s 10 Best Destination Resorts.
