UPDATE: 11-18-2020

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) issued a new emergency order  on 11-15-2020 that enacts a three-week pause beginning on 11-18-2020 targeting indoor social gatherings and other group activities in an effort to curb rapidly rising COVID-19 infection rates.

The Mackinac Island City Council reminds our loyal visitors not to travel to the island during this period due to the new order and the fact that there are no open public restrooms.

The 2020-2021 Winter Season on Mackinac Island is different than any other year in recent memory. There will be no organized events that promote large public gatherings. The traditional community Christmas Tree Lighting will be open to guests staying on the island but not to the general public as there will be no late ferry scheduled for that day. The Christmas Bazaar will be going virtual this year. You can still support this annual holiday event and follow along on their Facebook page Mackinac Island Christmas Bazaar.

A few retail shops will be open during the holiday season with limited hours and may offer the option of online shopping as well, see more information listed below in the Shopping section.

A complete list of winter businesses is provided below. Please keep in mind that the ferry schedule is limited this time of year and public restrooms are not available November – late April.
